Welcome to the Digital Economy.
Increasing speed and efficiency of digital transformation across government is critical to everyone....citizens, government officials, and business in the public and private sector. In this book we focus on what “digitizing government” really means to all these communities. It is more than creating websites and putting paper forms online…but about a real opportunity to transform government, create a platform for increased cooperation, and to put the citizen’s needs at the centre of service delivery.
The book is written as a readable, accessible practitioner view of the challenges and issues, strongly supported by historical context, academic theory, and a framework for decision making. We strike a balance between pointing out the failures and challenges of moving to a “digital-by-default” service delivery approach, while highlighting the successes and stepping stones on which we can move forward.
